This provides information on the genetic stocks of wheat (genus
Triticum ) and its relatives (two
genera Aegilops and Avena ) which are maintained in 16 institutions which belong to national, prefectural
or private universities in Japan. These institutions will be called the wheat stock stations, or simply
stations. All the stocks are classified into the following 10 groups, for each of which the number of
accessions registered at present are also given;
last update, May. 6 1999
Here you will find various information about each accession, such as name and location of the station to be accessed, availability for distribution, origin, and genetic and cytogenetic characteristics. The informations presented will be renewed from time to time. We sincerely hope this home page will be of some use for wheat researchers, domestic as well as abroad, and contribute for future development of wheat science.
Preparation of this home page owes to special skill and enormous effort of two persons, Dr. Y. Yamazaki (Genetic Stock Research Center, National Institute of Genetics, Mishima) and Dr. H. Tsujimoto (Kihara Institute for Biological Research, Yokohama City University). Financial and technical supports from the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture (Grant-in-Aid for Cooperative Research No. 07356001) and the Kihara Memorial Yokohama Foundation for the Advancement of Life Sciences have been indispensable in establishing this home page.
