This strain was generated by crossing between a mutant strain (MT1332) with a 7-bp deletion in the 3rd exon of dead end (dnd) gene and a transgenic strain (TG870) with GFP expression in the germ cells. This strain should be maintained as heterozygotes for the dnd mutation and as homozygotes for the GFP transgene. The dnd homozygous mutants, which completely lack their germ cells, can be identified in incrossing populations between fish of this strain just by observing the fluorescence from Tg(olvas-GFP).
