Puchi was named after the French word "Petit", which means "cute" or "small" in French. The shape of her face is an inverted triangle. Her face looks young for her age. She can turn over her lower lip down to her chin. She has big ears and her left ear waves. When she is scolded, she sits down Japanese style, with her buttock on top of her ankles. She has two daughters, Popo and Pan, but she didn't rear them by herself because she screamed and escaped when she gave birth. She had her third daughter, Pico, in 2003, and she reared her with great trouble. But despite of her great effort at child-rearing, Pico, who was naturally handicapped, passed away on June 9, 2005. Today, Puchi enjoys her easy life while she is worried by the cheerful children in her group.
Character
Although Puchi loves the fights in the group, she is ordinarily cheerful and mild. She is careful about handling objects. She likes cleaning by sweeping with a hose and a deck brush and scrubbing with a scourer. Sometimes, her good breeding can guessed at from her behaviors.

1979.01.30 Puchi came to Kyoto University Primate Research Institute (PRI). (Weight: 44.2 kg; bought from Toshinkikaku, Ltd.). Until then, raised in an ordinary human household. Because she and Gon had gotten big, they were sent together to the PRI. They started out living together with Reiko.
1979.11.12 Pendensa  {0095}  came to Primate Research Institute Kyoto University.
1982.03.07 Puchi gave birth to Popo  {0438}  (conceived by artificial insemination). Father: Gon  {0437} .
1982.05.18 Reiko gave birth to Reo  {0439}  (conceived by artificial insemination).
1983.12.07 Puchi gave birth to Pan  {0440}  (conceived by artificial insemination). Father: Gon  {0437} .
1985.01.20 Chloe  {0441}  moved to Primate Research Institute Kyoto University.
1985.09.10 Mari  {0274}  moved to Japan Monkey Centre for breeding loan.
1989.10.03 Ai and Akira escaped from Institute.
1994.04.28 body weight 56.3kg
1995 New outdoor enclosure was completed. Chimpanzees now kept together in a group.
1996.05.29 Mari  {0274}  came back to PRI (Primate Research Institute Kyoto University).
1998.07.29 Ai  {0434}  gave birth to Atom  {0584}  (conceived by artificial insemination), but he was stillborn.
2000.04.24 Ai gave birth to Ayum  {0608}  (conceived by artificial insemination).
2000.06.19 Chloe gave birth to Cleo  {0609} .
2000.08.09 Pan gave birth to Pal  {0611}  (conceived by artificial insemination).
2003.05.15 Puchi gave birth to Pico  {0662} . Father: Reo  {0439} .
2005.06.09 Pico  {0662}  died.
2017.05.16 Puchi died.
